  3.     Despite some differences in approach, the US and European guidelines essentially target the same patients for therapy. Diet is advocated initially; however, if compliance with a lipid-lowering diet fails to yield the desired results, drug therapy may also need to be initiated. 
  4. Treatment of chylomicronaemia is geared towards prevention of the features of the chylomicronaemia syndrome.
